About the Slavic Banya Ceremony

The Slavic banya/Sauna Ceremony is a powerful tool for achieving both mental and emotional healing through the use of heat and cold therapy. Not only does this traditional practice offer a rejuvenating experience for the mind and body, but it also boasts a wide range of physical benefits, including strengthening the immune system, respiratory system, and skin. In essence, it serves as a self-cleaning tool that can help us heal on multiple levels.

During the ceremony, an outdoor steam tent infused with essential oils is utilized to create a warm and soothing environment. To further enhance the healing experience, gentle skin lashing is administered using a wad of birch tree, branches, or venik, which is mixed with oak or eucalyptus leaves to nourish and rejuvenate the skin. The ceremony concludes with cold immersion, which provides a powerful contrast to the heat therapy and further enhances the benefits of the experience.

I am honoured to pay forward the gift of my ancestral knowledge and genetic memory that has helped me connect more deeply with myself and the world around me.

How to prepare for the banya/sauna

Drink lots of fluids before, during and after the session, especially electrolytes. Don't eat a heavy meal, light breakfast recommended before you come in. No alcohol or any mind altering substance allowed. We also provide a traditional tea with lemon and honey during the session. Just be open minded to receive this unforgettable experience.
